What Is Peace?

As PeaceBuilders, we pledge to build peace wherever we go and whenever we have a chance. But the question is...What is Peace? What do you think about when you think of Peace? What does it look like, sound like, and/or feel like?

Please add your response in the form of a comment below.

How Do You Define God?

Greetings, my wise seventh graders!

My question to you today is "How do you define God?" Mrs. Wilson defines God:
"As a miracle worker and one who takes care of all of us."
What do you think? Please answer the question in the form of a comment to this post.

Religion Journal - 28 Aug 2009

Today's religion journal entry was all about heroes. The question to consider was "What does it mean to be a hero?" And such wonderful answers were shared:

A hero is someone who:
  • Gives without taking back
  • Helps others; doesn't always think about themselves first
  • Like a teacher, helps you or guides you on your path
  • Does the extraordinary, but acts ordinary
  • Inspires others by positive example
  • Goes out of their comfort zone in order to make the world a better place
  • Has strength and is not afraid to speak up
  • Lead hopeful lives
And we all agreed....ANYONE CAN BE A HERO! Even you!

Remember, we will be doing the My Hero Project this year, so be on the lookout for someone you might want to write about. And feel free to check out the My Hero website for some essays about amazing people.

Welcome to Seventh Grade!

Welcome back to school! I know you must all be so excited to be back for another school year. So we'll get started working hard right away! But first, here's a little information about your first week as seventh graders:
  • Monday and Tuesday are both minimum days.
  • Wednesday will be our first full day of school.
  • Friday is a Dress Uniform Day; our Welcome Back Mass will be at 11:00.
And for your parents:
  • Thursday is Back to School Night, 7:00.

I'm looking forward to getting to know each of my new seventh graders. We are going to have a wonderful year!

Our Idioms

An idiom is a phrase "whose meaning cannot be determined by the literal definition of the phrase itself, but refers instead to a figurative meaning that is known only through common use." (Wikipedia, 2009)

Last night for homework you were to find five idioms along with their explanation (what we use them to mean). In a comment below, please list your five idioms and their explanations, and come back to this page to see what everyone else has added.

Opinion Question

This is NOT a required blog entry, just a question to think about (and respond to, if you'd like). If you could choose one song that represents your class, what would it be? Is it a song with particularly meaningful lyrics? Or is it a song that everyone in the class absolutely loves? Let me know what you think.
