Friday's Writing Prompt (5-8-09)

I remember in kindergarten we used to get candy at the end of every friday school day. I think that this memory is so clear because it was candy. It was also on a friday and who doesn't like fridays.

One thing I remember about Kindergarten was Cade and I used to hang out in the morning because we where Sun Bears. My older brother Charlie used to go to CTK so when he would wake up I would go to Cades and then his mom would bring us to school. I specifically remember one day we where really board so his mom got a bucket of water and soap and we blew bubble's with our hands I remember Cade and I sitting there for like and hour. We where having so much fun!

The one thing I remember most clearly about kindergarten would be when I came to school with my first cast. I had broken/ fractured my ankle, and I had to wear a bootie on the bottom of it. I'm pretty sure I was embarrassed, but that went away when people signed it. I also remember I wasn’t allowed to play on Big Toy, so I told one of the teachers that someone needed help in the bathroom and snuck on. I was able to play a little bit until I got caught, and had to eat my graham cracker on the bench. Not the most pleasant memory considering I still get hurt and I am still not allowed to play on Big Toy.

One of the things I remember the most about kindergarten is making paper mache eggs with chicks inside for Easter. I think I remember this project very clearly because it was fun. We blew up balloons, put tissue paper over it with glue, and waited for it to dry. Then we popped the balloon and cut it open. Inside we put a chick and plastic grass.

The thing that I remember the most about kindergarten or first grade was when I broke my arm. I was on the monkey bars and I fell off tand landed on my elbow. I remember it well because it hurt a lot and I was at my sister soccer practice. My dad was coaching and he had to stop and call my mom. Then she took me to the hospital and I got a red cast.

I remember the books I read and some of the things that happened in the books, because I remember books well I think.

One thing I remember clearly about First Grade was taking pictures for a video that Mrs. Maffeo made for all the students. I remember it well because I still have the movie. I remember taking the class picture on big toy the best, and then some pictures of me and my friends. That was one thing I remember most about First Grade.

I remember when I ran down to club in first grade. Of course, in first grade you don't know that you can't run to club. So, I got a pink slip from Mrs. Carini. That was my first pink slip.

I remember the first day of kindergarten I was late. Yes, I was late and I walked in and everybody stared at me and it was a little awkward.

The thing I remember most clearly about kindergarten was my first fire drill. We were having free time and fighting over the fire fighter out fit when it went off. I remember covering my ears because it was so loud. We were told to get in line, so we did and went to the line once I was out of the classroom the alarm stopped. We stood on the line were counted and the bell rang and we went back inside. I think the memory is so clear because I was a little scared; maybe I thought it was a real fire or something. That was the memory most clear of kindergarten.

One thing I remember clearly from kindergarten was a math test at the end of the year in which one of the problems was six times four. I remember that all the problems (except division) were set up vertically, and it was on a pink paper. I think I remember this so well because it was so random. I always wonder why I remember this one odd detail, and that gets it ingrained further into my memory.

One thing I remember very clearly about kindergarten was when we were doing projects with some of the moms and there were different stations that you went to. At the end of one of the stations everyone got an Eskimo Pie which is a type of ice cream bar. I didn't want one because I didn't like them, but everyone else was eating them and they thought it was weird that I didn't like them. I don't know why I didn't want one because I love ice cream.I am not sure exactly why I remembered this.I probably remember this memory because it had ice cream in it that I didn't want and I liked all other kinds of ice cream at that time also.

My favorite memory in first grade was when Mrs. Maffeo was introduced to us as Mrs. Maffeo. She had been my Sunday school teacher when I was three, and I knew her as Hollee. I thought it was so cool that I knew a teacher’s first name. Some of us still thought that teachers had no first name; that their only name was Mrs. or Mr. so and so. I told all my friends about it and thought I was so special. Then I realized anyone could just look into the yearbook and see what her name was. I think I remember this well because it when on for a few months before I realized it, so I would remember it longer than I would something that only happened for a few minutes.

In first grade, I was in the Philippines. I was in the same class as my cousin. I was the fastest kid in the class. Everyone got along. It was fun.

One thing that I remember about kindergarten is learning the alphabet, and learning how to read. We got these workbooks, and each week it was about a different letter. We would practice writing it, and then read some sentences with that letter.

I think the thing I remember most about 1st grade was my teacher. Her name was Mrs. Ogden. Both of my sisters had had and loved her, but lots of people thought she was too firm with younger kids. She expected more of us kids, but I liked it, I felt like I had more responsibility.

I vividly remember falling down the stairs heading toward club. I wasn't badly injured and Sheridan helped me up. We decided that we would be friends. I don't know why I remember that.
